The Good Dinosaur Family Movie Night

We are so excited that The Good Dinosaur came out this week! Of course we had to celebrate with a family movie night! Before the kids left for school, I gave them each their movie ticket for the night and they drew their own version of Arlo.

You can download a printable version of the movie ticket here.

I always like to have a craft or a project to go along with the movie as well, so I thought it would be fun to make dinosaur succulent planters! They turned out adorable and super simple to make!

Supplies you’ll need:

Plastic dinosaur

Spray paint

Razor knife

Small plastic succulents (I found mine at the dollar store!)

Scissors

You’ll need to print out the cupcake topper from MomCo

Possibly a glue gun

Before the kids came home, I took the dinosaurs outside and spray painted them so they would be dry and ready for them when they got home.

When the kids got home, we went outside to put the dinosaurs together. I helped them cut a small hole in the back of the dinosaur and then they chose the succulents they wanted in their dinosaurs. I chose to go with plastic/fake ones so that the kids could keep these in their rooms and not have to worry about remembering to water real ones!

They arranged their succulents to their liking and then we did use a couple dots of hot glue to help secure them to the dinosaur. The kids then cut out Spot from the cupcake topper that we printed and nestled him into the plants.

I think they turned out adorable! It’s like Arlo is looking back at Spot riding on his back!

I had printed a ton of great printable activities and coloring sheets to go along with the movie from Disney‘s website. I sent the kids in to have fun with those while I made dinner.

For dinner we had Brontosaurus Burgers and Trees (broccoli)  out on the patio. Mid 80’s in February, I’ll take it!

For dessert, I made my own version of dirt and worms but into a popcorn snack mix! It was a huge hit to say the least!

I’ll share the whole recipe later this week, so stay tuned for that! We loved the movie and had a wonderful family night together!
